BMAGIC, Bayview Hunters Point Mobilization for Adolescent Growth in our Communities, is a dynamic collaborative that brings together the Bayview Hunters Point community. The BMAGIC 4th annual Back to School, Backpack Give Away program will take place on Saturday, August 25, 2007, 11:00 am – 3:00 pm, at the Bayview KC Jones Park and MLK Swimming Pool. It will be our highest profile community building celebration to date, with expected attendance of well over 2,500 people. This wonderful event is in honor of Bayview Hunters Point children and youth, kindergarten to 12th grade and will offer an educational and enjoyable experience. To encourage our children and youth to be joyous about the new school year and to provide them with the necessary tools to be prepared for academic success, BMAGIC will provide 3,000 backpacks stuffed with school supplies.

Fifty community based organizations ranging from: health, environment, juvenile and social justice, to faith based after school programming, along with elected officials, city agencies, grass roots activists and organizers will be in attendance at the event to promote critical services, civic participation and unity in Bavyiew Hunters Point. A nutritious lunch and local entertainment showcasing our youth will be provided. Carnival style interactive activities such as: community tree building, face painting, balloon toss, hula hoop competition, word fishing, poster and essay competition, arts and crafts, and sports will take place.

BMAGIC is actively seeking corporate sponsors to support our significant Back to School, Backpack Give Away program. Corporate sponsorship will support the acquisition of back packs, school supplies and a healthy lunch for all program participants.

BMAGIC will provide sponsors multiple benefits including opportunities to associate their brand name, services and/or products to thousands of potential local customers. Sponsors will reach a muli-cultural, young and underserved audience to promote their brand. Bayview Hunters Point has the largest population of children, 41% and is the most racially diverse community in the city.

As a sponsor, you will be supporting a positive and influential endeavor that directly impacts the quality of life of children, youth and their families in Bayview Hunters Point. There are different levels of sponsorship opportunities available. I look forward to discussing details of your company’s sponsorship of BMAGIC and adding your name to our program list of socially-minded businesses and organizations. On behalf of every child in Bayview Hunters Point who won’t be left behind when it’s time to start the new school year, thank you for your generosity.
Kind Regards,
yvette mari robles
BMAGIC Director

About BAYVIEW Hunters Point

  • Bayview Hunters Point is one of San Francisco’s most vibrant neighborhoods of family homes, beautiful views, parks and playgrounds, historic buildings and a rich cultural heritage.
  • More than 34,800 people live in these two neighborhoods, which comprise San Francisco’s southeastern sector.
  • Bayview Hunters Point is home to the City’s largest number of children. 32% of the area’s residents are under the age 18.
  • Bayview Hunters Point is one of the City most diverse neighborhoods, with the City’s largest African-American population (46%). Asian-Americans and Pacific Islanders comprise 30%, Latinos, 18% and Caucasian 9%.

Many youth and families in Bayview Hunters Point have also experienced violence, high truancy rates, health problems related to poor environmental conditions and sub-quality schools. These problems have made it difficult for youth to succeed. A number of youth who enter the juvenile justice system come from Bayview Hunters Point. This is something that MAGIC is determined to change.

BMAGIC’s mission is to facilitate, coordinate and network community resources and
opportunities that support service providers and community members in Bayview Hunters Point.

Our vision is to create and maintain a deeper unified roadmap to social change that advances
the educational, economic, and juvenile justice of underserved youth and their families in
Bayview Hunters Point.
