100CPI current has 22 members attending colleges and universities across the nation.

2002: introduction of the Summer College Prep Institute, a series of workshops designed to prepare junior and senior high school students for the college application process.

Program Components

I. College Prep Tutorial Services

•  Subjects:

Advance Math : Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus

Science : Biology, Physiology, Chemistry, Physics

Foreign language : Spanish, French, Cantonese, Mandarin, Japanese

Other subjects : English (reading, composition, essays); History; Economics

•  Tutors:

College Students : Requirements>junior level or above in college

College Graduates : Requirements>Degree related to subject tutored

Credentialed teachers (interns, retired teachers)

II. SAT Preparation Workshops

•  Contract out for services: Attain Learning Center, Princeton Review, Kaplan

Workshops : 8-10 weeks each school year

Seminars : Two to four one-day refresher seminars (Target students: Seniors)

III. Weekly Academic Workshops

•  Individualized workshops by grade level. Help students perform at grade level or above school. Home work packets, testing (entry & exit exams)

•  Math Clubs, Language & Literature, Spanish & French Clubs, and Study Skills

IV. Literacy Program

•  Book Clubs (20 participants): Monthly book club

Sister-Sister Book Club : Young women & mothers/guardians/mentors

Brother-Brother Book Club : Young men & Fathers/guardians/mentors

Supplies : 10 books for each participant

•  Word Dawg

Monthly project : students are given pre-selected words. Students must provide the definition, antonym & synonyms and use the words in a sentence. Students receive prizes as a reward for successfully completing the work.

V. College Counseling Services

•  Weekly college counseling offered to all students

•  Individualized meetings

•  Review students grades, academic files, attendance at workshops

•  Counselor to develop relationships with students' parent(s); constant & consistent communication

•  College prep workshops for students & parents: Financial Aid (FAFSA, Grants, Loans) and college application process

VI. College Tours

•  Regional & national college tours

•  College Campus Tour Workshops

VII. Enrichment Classes/rap sessions/peer to peer mentoring

Weekly rap sessions/peer to peer mentoring

•  Unity : female youth

•  Model : male youth

Both groups are organized by age

Enrichment

•  Dance classes: instruction on world dancing/history lessons

•  Trips to museums/dance performance/concerts/music

VIII. My Brother's Keeper Volunteer Program

•  All students must perform a minimum of 25 hours of community service per school year.

IX. Summer Program

Summer College Prep Institute

•  Prepare high school junior & seniors for the college application and financial aid process. 8 sessions.

•  Taught by a college counselor or contracted other college prep organizations (PACT, SFCAC)

The Term Paper Project

•  How to construct a term paper from beginning to end.

•  Class for 9 th & 10 th graders

•  Research project including presentation at local or main library
