“It's been my dream that we would form a close ministry community at Juvenile Hall, working together to reclaim the lives of our children. We could cast a net around them, and bring them home.

Everywhere they went, they would know one of us was waiting for them, and that we would all work in concert to see their lives develop as fully as possible.

Our unity across language, cultural, and religious lines would be an example to our youth, who must find their way in a very complex world.”

Rev. Toni Dunbar, June 23, 2000
AWAY FROM HOME

in the halls doing time
for a crime i did commit
i lay awake waiting for the
date of my release
so they can send me away
away from my family
away from my friends
away from my life
away from everything i've ever known
i wish on a star
that they won't send me far
